Our Legislative History

In January of 2004, Senator Pete Campos-D, Las Vegas, introduced Senate Joint Memorial 3, a resolution to create the “Naturopathic Health Care Task Force.” The bill created a task force to study whether “naturopathic medicine” should be licensed by the state. The bill was sent to the Senate Public Affairs’ Committee where it was heard on February 4, 2004. The bill was tabled and it died when the legislature adjourned February 19, 2004.

You can receive legislative updates, alerts and contact lists for both the Senate and House Committees or ask any questions or receive more information by writing to us today at newmexico@naturalhealth.org.

Our Current Work:

Dear NMCNH Members and Friends,

It is my pleasure to invite you to our new format for the New Mexico Coalition for Natural Health! In an effort to expand our outreach and stimulate new ideas within our natural health care community, the NMCNH Board has chosen to sponsor the grassroots outreach program called “WING!” ~ Wellness Information & Networking Group! This monthly luncheon meeting will provide wellness information, legislative updates, health freedom awareness and networking between natural health care practitioners, their clients, local legislators and media over a great lunch with a guest speaker!

Our first “WING!” meeting was held on December 14, 2004, in two locations on the same day, for your convenience and hosted guest speaker, Dr. Conrad Dean, ND of Hobbs, New Mexico. Dr. Dean is the President of the New Mexico Coalition for Natural Health and presented the new and exciting plans for the NMCNH and the 2005 legislative session.

The “WING!” Albuquerque meeting is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Garduno’s of Mexico, 10551 Montgomery Blvd. NE in Albuquerque (call 505-298-5000 for directions) and “WING!” Santa Fe meets at the Wild Oats Natural Foods Store, 1090 St. Francis Drive South at Cordova from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

In the future, these “WING!” meetings will be held regularly on the third Tuesday of each month at these locations until further notice. For more information, please call Dr. Conrad Dean, ND at 505-318-3333 or e-mail at newmexico@naturalhealth.org.

A tax-deductible donation of $5.00 to benefit the NMCNH, over and above the cost of lunch, helps defer the expenses necessary to maintain a state wide advocacy organization and is very much appreciated.

This is a very exciting venture for NMCNH and has many possibilities forreaching our natural health care communities with the message of healthfreedom and its importance in New Mexico! If you have any questions, comments, ideas, offers to be a guest speaker or a desire to volunteer to help us “WING!” it, please let us know at newmexico@naturalhealth.org. We hope to see you there!

Yours for Health Freedom,
Michele S. Morgan, Ph.D.
